A Ugandan man became the village hero after killing a 20ft crocodile that took the lives of his wife and six other villagers.
Mubarak Batambuze, who lives in Kibuye village in Uganda, lost his pregnant wife Demeteriya Nabwire after she went searching for firewoods on Nawaikoke shores.
Sadly, the 56-year-old man never saw his wife alive again. With the help of some villagers, Nabwire’s slippers, mobile phone, as well as her bloody fingers and toes were found at the location where she went missing.
They concluded that Batambuze’s wife was eaten by the monstrous 20ft crocodile which has been terrorising residents around the area for over a year.
Batambuze thought of getting a revenge on the giant beast. Using all his savings, the widower bought the sharpest spear from a local blacksmith.
In his interview with New Vision, a Ugandan newspaper, he said: “I went to a blacksmith and paid him sh20,000 (£4.65) so that he could make me a very sharp spear.”
Five other fishermen helped Batambuze track down and get bloody revenge on the killer crocodile.
According to some reports, Batambuze will be asking for compensation from Ugandan Wildlife Authority for the death of his wife.
However, the officials said that it is not their responsibility to compensate families of victims of killer crocodiles. They stressed that they are already catching and moving the reptiles to another location.
