Netizens call out crooner Richard Poon for ‘misogynist’ comments on Cardi B’s Grammy performance

He is being called out for slut-shaming the performance of Cardi B and Megan Stallion at the recently-concluded—and contested—2021 Grammy awards.

Richard Poon recently made waves on social media after sharing screenshots of Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s performance of their single WAP at the recently-concluded Grammy Awards.

“Expect many entertainment shows to follow and replicate this so-called ‘empowering’ performance by Cardi B and Megan Stallion,” said Poon, who would later describe it as a “stripper production number.

A netizen would tell him to “get out of a woman’s business”, even bringing up the fact that he married actress Maricar Reyes, who once had a sex tape scandal.

Others would tell off Poon for “telling women how to be women.”

They would even hit Poon for his political views, as he and wife Maricar supported Duterte’s run for the presidency back in 2016.

Some netizens, however, would tip the scales and say Poon did not say anything against women, but pointed more towards the performance.

One netizen even pointed out how the performance didn’t live up to what people expected from Cardi B compared to Dua Lipa’s performance from the same event.

Another netizen even blasted what most people refer to as “wokes” and told them to “focus on improving their shallow lives”.

As for the performers Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, they have already shared their views on their official Twitter handles.

Stallion, who also goes by the name Tina Snow on Twitter, said people should follow pages that show them what they like.

As for Cardi B, she said didn’t care about what people thought of the performance as long as it brought her more views on YouTube.
