Social media users couldn’t help but feel angry after a visibly less fortunate elderly vendor was scammed by a younger woman.
The 76-year-old, Liusa Fineza, or “Nanay Liza”, who sells rice cakes for a living along A. Bonifacio Avenue, San Roque, Cainta, Rizal, was conned out of P420 by someone who bought food from her using a fake P500 bill.
Mylyn Tupas, a family friend of Nanay Liza, went to social media and shared photos of Nanay Liza crying which had Netizens feeling disgusted.
Maawa naman kayo,” she said.
Money is hard to come by these days due to the restrictions implemented amid the pandemic.
This is the third time Nanay Liza has fallen for this scheme, Tupas said in a quick interview.
According to Tupas, Nanay Liza was in the teaching occupation before becoming a vendor.

She asked social media users if they’d like to donate to Nanay Liza.
The donations came in very quickly. Recent photos show Nanay Liza looking happier while holding up different denominations of Philippine currency.
Not even a face mask can hide that smile.
