A couple in Baguio City will have to face charges after allegedly planning a fake kidnapping incident a few days ago.
30-year-old Aprilyn Agoyos was walking with her friends in Dizon Subdivision when a black fan suddenly stopped near them and a man seemed to drag her inside. Her friends tried running towards the van but it immediately sped away.
They reported the abduction to the Baguio police and after a thorough investigation, Agoyos allegedly planned the incident all along. She and her boyfriend, Erwin Ro, who was once imprisoned over drug charges, masterminded the kidnapping so that they can be together.
“Kaya nga kunwari huhugutin kita bigla. Promise,” Ro said in a message sent to his girlfriend.
“After a thorough investigation, it was found out that this case of ‘Kidnap Me’ perpetuated by the alleged victim and the suspect themselves,” the Baguio City PIO said in a statement uploaded on their Facebook page.
It turned out that Agoyos’ family did not approve of her relationship with the ex-convict, which led them to plan the incident.
“They staged this incident to mislead the family of the alleged victim, who was against her romantic relationship with the suspect who was recently released from jail.”
Baguio Police chief Police Colonel Allen Co compared the incident to the classic story of Romeo and Juliet who were forbidden to see each other.
He added that the police will be filing cases against the two for “wasting” their resources over a staged incident.
“We are serious in filing cases against these two for the wastage of our resources and for causing panic,” Co said.
“They acted without due consideration to the welfare and peace of mind of the general public,” the Baguio City PIO added.
“As police resources are scarce and limited with many cases to investigate, the [Philippine National Police] considers making false reports and faking crimes to be a serious waste of its resources and will act accordingly.”
