Filipinos have once again found themselves disappointed after catching the national government lying about how good its vaccination program is.
President Rodrigo Duterte ordered Health Secretary Francisco Duque and vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. to tell the public that the Philippines ranked second in Southeast Asia in the category of vaccination rate.
The Palace last week displayed a graph showing the Philippines in second place when it comes to the number of COVID-19 vaccines administered.
The University of Oxford’s Our World in Data has information that confirms this, listing Indonesia as number one with 24.43 million doses used. However, what the Philippine government is saying isn’t truly accurate.
The Philippines is second to the last in terms of ASEAN countries that have administered doses 100,000 population.
According to the Philippines Vaccine Tracker on Twitter, the Philippines was 8th but has been demoted since. Vietnam has been administered the least but has the lowest number of coronavirus cases.
The Philippines’ National Task Force (NTF) came out and said that nearly 4.5 million have taken a jab, 3,466,341 were new and 1,029,061 were second doses.
Netizens were furious upon knowing that the government has been lying once again.
Data in context.
Compared to its population, the Philippine vaccination program has a long way to go. #AgadMagpabakunaPagNariyanNa pic.twitter.com/vbobdRqafi— Raffy Tima (@raffytima) May 25, 2021
Tony Leachon is tired of the propaganda and is just glad that more are skeptical of data coming from the government.
Propaganda press releases don’t work.
People are knowledgeable now.
Global official data will relay the right information.
We recognize hard work but we don’t appreciate misleading information to downplay our sub oar vaccination performance.
Let’s step up. https://t.co/ANFRWymRXf— Tony Leachon MD (@DrTonyLeachon) May 27, 2021

The Philippines is the second most populated country in the region and the number of Filipinos vaccinated is not far from the number of people vaccinated in other ASEAN countries.
Talagang hindi na sila ang nag-adjust for population.

This corrects the lies being pushed by government statistics. https://t.co/0jpgGNMv2q

Vietnam's COVID response is outstanding, so vaccination may just be their next priority. However, I don't believe we have the same situation in the Philippines.

Another case of correct data but incorrect presentation @pnagovph
At minimum, there should at least be vaccination rate in the table
Indonesia may be the closes comparable to the Philippines, but to be fair to them, they had 10M "2nd doses administered" out of 24M total doses. https://t.co/D8YCq9hk7K
