Pinoy Big Brother: Connect 4th Big Placer Jie-Ann Armero reveals she was a victim of bullying prior to her joining the competition.
In an interview with RAWR Nation, Armero detailed how people would make fun of her appearance, especially her hair which she says was the root of her insecurity.
“Dun ko na nafeel yung hiya sa mga tao. Like everytime dadaan ako parang meron akong naririnig na pangugutya about saakin. Yun ang naging dahilan para hindi na ako makipaghalubilo sa probinsiya kasi marami akong naririnig na nakakasakit sakin,”
The bullying was so bad that it affected her grades and made her not want to attend school. She said the back of her scalp is like that of a man when she has her hair down.
“Parang hair ng lalake. Every time pumapasok sa school kutsaan nila. Ang liit na lang ng grades ko, minsan absent ako ng absent,”
Armero is not totally over the teasing she endured but is able to cope by reminiscing about the good things that happened in her life.
“Parati akong nagdadasal. Tinutuon ko yung sarili ko sa mga magagandang bagay nangyari sa buhay ko.
“Iniisip ko yung mga good memories yung nangyari sa buhay ko,”
She also regrets not being vocal enough during her time in the house simply because she lacked confidence.
“Isa ‘dun is yung hindi ko pag speak up sa bahay about tasks. Parang nanghihinaan ako ng loob. Di ko alam kung paano mag speak kung tama ba yung mga suggestions ko. Sana ginawa ko na lang sa bahay.”
Her ambition is to one day become a doctor and have a career in acting. The dream of being in the health profession was inspired by the Korean drama Descendants of The Sun.
But for now, she is hoping to get a role in any series or movie.
