YouTube videos regarding comedian Jimmy Santos‘ alleged current financial status spread after people stated that some of the big names in showbiz and politics have reached out to help him.
It all started when rumors spread that Santos is now selling meat at a wet market in Angeles City, Pampanga, to earn money and make ends meet. Other posts began adding details to the initial claim, saying that Revillame found out about the situation and offered him a helping hand. Another video then said that Vic Sotto, Santos’ former co-host at Eat Bulaga, went out of his way and gave the latter a house and a car.
Politicians like Senate President Vicente Sotto III and President Rodrigo Duterte themselves were among those who were linked to the news because they were among those who supposedly reached out to the comedian.
Television host Willie Revillame eventually spoke up and stopped the tattletales by saying that the rumors revolving around his said gifts to Santos are just “fake news.”
In a statement to Pep.ph, the Wowowin host clarified that the viral posts saying that he gave Santos a car and fruit stand to help him earn money are not true.
“Hindi ko naman nakakausap si Tito Jimmy at wala akong itinulong sa kanya. Hindi totoo ‘yan, fake news ‘yan,” said Revillame.
Apparently, the footage and screenshots of Santos selling meat came from one of his YouTube videos where he experienced how to be a meat vendor.
His other videos are filled with content where he educates his viewers about the knowledge that he knows about Pampanga, where he’s currently based.
“Shine-share ko lang yung kaunting kaalaman ko at kung mga naikukwento sa kin yung tungkol dito sa Pampanga,” he said during an interview with Love Anover.
“Ang pagba-vlog, hindi basta ganun lang eh. Kailangan meron ding sense at kailangang kapulutan ng aral. Ang kaalaman, walang katapusan.”
Santos now has more than 250,000 subscribers on the video streaming platform.
