Actor Coco Martin shared his awkward past with his on-screen partner and rumored girlfriend Julia Montes as he got rejected way before they filmed their first project together in 2012 titled Walang Hanggan.
“Nung umpisa, awkward. Kasi malalim yung pinagsimulan namin eh. Nagkasama kami ni Juls nun… hindi pa sa ABS-CBN. May iba pang show. Ano pa siya nun, bagets,” Coco said during an interview on ABS-CBN Entertainment‘s channel.
He stated that when Julia was just in her early teens and was in his early 20s, he tried confessing to her but got rejected.
“Mga 13, 14 [years-old siya]. Mga ano ako nun… Siguro mga 21. Tapos nagtangka ako sa kanya… Nagtangkang mambola. Na-reject ako.”
A few years later, they crossed paths once again as they were assigned to play the lead roles at ABS-CBN’s melodrama television series, Walang Hanggan, alongside Dawn Zulueta and Richard Gomez.
Coco admitted that he tried “getting back” on Julia by acting a bit hostile towards her.
“Everytime na may eksena, feeling niya sinusungitan ko siya,” Coco laughed.
He recalled when he was telling actress Dawn Zulueta that he doesn’t feel the chemistry between him and Julia, only to clarify that he did it as a sort of revenge for the rejection.
“Sinasabi ko kay Ms. Dawn, ‘Oo nga po di ko nararamdaman eh. Di ko nararamdaman yung chemistry namin. Feeling ko parang wala.’ Pero honestly, pang motivate ko lang yun para makaganti sa kanya.”
As the filming for the series went by, Coco felt as if Julia was making an effort, and that’s when they started getting comfortable with each other.
The two are rumored to be in a long-term relationship with each other. However, both parties have yet to confirm nor deny the speculations.
Just last month, Montes admitted that she is currently in love with someone and the choice to stay silent about her love life is the choice of both parties involved. In 2019, the actress trended after being spotted in a supermarket after allegedly giving birth in Germany.
She’s expected to make a television comeback by being Coco’s new female lead at the longest-running television series in the Philippines, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano. Their last TV project together was in 2015 for Wansapanataym’s Yamashita’s Treasures.
