President Rodrigo Duterte has recently revealed why he can’t support former Senator Bongbong Marcos’ presidential run.
In an interview with pro-Duterte vlogger Banat By, the commander in chief said Marcos, just like Vice President Leni Robredo, is an ally of the communists.
“Ni minsan wala kayong narinig na mag-Marcos ako. Wala. Wala kayong narinig. Kaya wag kayong maniwala na nagpapagamit ako,” he said when asked which presidential candidate will he support in next year’s national elections.
“Pero ‘yang pagtakbo ni Marcos, sasabihin ko ang rason kung bakit hindi ako makasuporta sa kanya at kung bakit na maging—kagaya kay Leni, mga pro ano ‘yan—diyan nga ako takot. Mga pro-communist ‘yan,” he added.
Duterte’s mother, Soledad “Nanay Soling” Duterte, was “considered “one of the pillars of the anti-dictatorship movement,” said former chief of staff Patmei Ruivivar.
Duterte highlighted that Sen. Bong Go is the only one he’ll back up.
The president also added that he had ordered the military not to disturb him in his goal of achieving nationwide peace.
“’Yung akin naman pagka-president ko, sinabi ko sa military na ‘wag muna niyo akong pakialaman kasi ginagawa ko ‘yung trabaho ko para magkaroon tayo ng mapayapang Pilipinas. Hindi namamatay ‘yung sundalo ko at baka pala madala natin sa usapan na maganda,”
“Kalabas-labasan niyan, gusto talaga ng mga komunista na parang kasama na sila sa gobyerno. Sabi ko, mahirap ‘yan,” he added.
Duterte has abandoned the idea of running for the vice presidency and is instead looking for a senatorial seat.
Meanwhile, retired Lieutenant General Antonio Parlade Jr, who is also gunning for the top position in the country, claimed that Go is controlling Duterte and is one of the big problems in today’s politics.
“I cannot align with Senator Bong Go. I’m sorry but isa siya, kasama siya sa mga problema ng bayan natin,” Parlade said.
“I don’t want to elaborate on that, but that’s very clear. You ask your people, you ask your constituents, you ask people in the government, you ask the AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines) why,” he added.
