From her humble beginnings at the Pinoy Big Brother house, Chiu has emerged as among the greatest television actresses of her time.
It’s difficult to question Kim Chiu’s royalty status.
She has achieved impressive milestones in both film and television. As far as the latter goes, the PBB winner is a queen in her own right, having starred in some of the network’s biggest drama series.
The list below proved her undisputed claim as a TV royalty:
Love Thy Woman (2020).
This series marked the fourth time Kim Chiu and Xian Lim starred together in a primetime drama.
One of Kapamilya shows that temporarily stopped its airing due to COVID-19 pandemic. The series came back and wrapped up with a very successful run, despite ABS-CBN’s shutdown.
The series follows the story of half-sisters Jia (Kim Chiu) and Dana (Yam Concepcion) as rivals in family, dreams, and the man they both love.
Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin (2017).
Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin is the reunion project of Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson, after parting ways several years earlier.
The couple previously worked in four primetime series, including their launching TV drama, Sana Maulit Muli in 2007.
The series also marked the first time they both starred in a daytime series, as the show aired on a pre-noontime slot.
The Story of Us (2016).
This picturesque drama took the scenic landscapes of El Nido, Palawan as its backdrop.
Marking KimXi’s third primetime series, The Story of Us follows the story of two childhood-friends-turned-lovers who parted ways when one had to take the opportunity of working in the United States.
The series aired from February 29 to June 16, 2016.
Ikaw Lamang (2014).
Ikaw Lamang was among ABS-CBN’s biggest budgeted series of 2014.
It was so due to its ensemble cast and extravagant set locations. It’s an epic family drama. Ikaw Lamang follows the story of a sugarcane farmer who fell in love with his employer’s daughter.
The series is known for its sociopolitical themes, having told the stories and plights of sugarcane farmers in Negros.
Ina, Kapatid, Anak (2012).
Ina, Kapatid, Anak is one of the highest-rated TV series of 2012. Known for its campy confrontations and ‘night of revelations’, the show surged in massive popularity, as it further made both Chiu and her co-star, Maja Salvador, two of the country’s fastest-rising drama actresses.
My Binondo Girl (2011).
My Binondo Girl served as the launching teleserye for Kim Chiu and Xian Lim a.k.a. KimXi.
The series follows the story of a young girl’s pursuit of her father’s approval and validation. The series also marked the first time Chiu and fellow Kapamilya actress, Maja Salvador, worked in a TV series. Regine Velasquez-Alcasid sang the show’s theme song, titled Sino Ako?
Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo (2010).
Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo is the fourth and last primetime series Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson starred in before they parted ways and pursued individual projects.
Also starring Kris Aquino, Gabby Concepcion, and Coco Martin, the series is widely considered as one of the biggest teleseryes of 2010.
Tayong Dalawa (2009).
Undoubtedly, one of the breakthrough teleseryes of 2009, this TV series was a consistent top-rater, both in AGB Nielsen and Kantar Media/TNS scorecards.
The series won various acting accolades from the PMPC, Gawad Tanglaw, and other award-giving bodies. The series is widely regarded to have catapulted Coco Martin to popularity, which paved the way for subsequent big projects. Kim Chiu, on the other hand, surprised critics with her acting chops and dramatic skills.
My Girl (2008).
The Philippine adaptation of the South Korean series of the same name, My Girl is a romcom that starred Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson, in lead roles. Chiu played the streetsmart Jasmine, who fell in love with the wealthy young businessman, Julian (Anderson).
The series showcased Chiu’s comic appeal, as well as her chemistry with Anderson. The series aired from May 26 to September 5, 2008.
Sana Maulit Muli (2007).
Sana Maulit Muli served as Chiu’s sensational debut in teleseryes. She starred alongside fellow PBB alum, Gerald Andersom, whom she worked with in subsequent projects, on the heels of the show’s massive success.
A love story about time and fate, it follows two young people’s journey to finding each other’s arms, amid the interventions of fate and destiny.
