Vice President Leni Robredo couldn’t condemn the government enough for failing to fight against fake news and whoever spreads them.
In a radio interview, Robredo expressed concern about the continuous fake news spreading in the country due to the lack of consequences against it.
The presidential aspirant complained about inaccurate information to a government agency, but “no action has been made.”
“Meron na kaming nireklamo before. Wala pang aksyon,” Robredo said.
“Kami ginagawa namin yung kailangan gawin, yung nag-rereport kami, wala talaga eh. Walang aksyon, Ka Ely. Walang aksyon,” she added.
Robredo highlighted how false information plays to people’s minds, and the results are evident.
She said the government doesn’t do anything to prevent the poisoning of minds; at least, that’s what she sees.
“Parang wala naman. At least wala akong nakikitang ganoong initiative,” she said.
She also emphasized how inaccurate news about the implementation of martial law and lockdown “creates panic among the public,” which leads to hoarders of goods.
Vera Files, a fact-checking organization, came out with a report in 2017 that suggested former senator Bongbong Marcos and Pres. Rodrigo Duterte has benefited the most from fake news.

Most of the propaganda videos on social media biased towards Marcos are completely false. The content creators don’t even show their faces. Plus, the information they put out has already been fact-checked countless times.
