It seems no one can stop retired Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Commissioner Rowena Guanzon from letting the presidential aspirant Bongbong Marcos have it.
Marcos Jr’ wife, Liza, recently sat down with host Boy Abunda and revealed that the movie Ant-Man somehow inspired the former senator to run for president.
“You know six months ago, he wasn’t so sure what to do, with no party, you know,” she said.
“And then one day we’re watching Ant-Man in the room… He loved Marvel movies, and then he looked at me and he goes, ‘Okay, we’re gonna do this,’ he told me. ‘Do what?’ ‘Run for the presidency.”
Upon hearing the story, voters just found it all that more difficult to see Marcos Jr. as a serious candidate.
The more intelligent ones know that he only wants the top position so his family can finally secure what’s left of its ill-gotten wealth.
Even Manila Mayor Isko Moreno had to laugh when asked about his thoughts on the account.
“Ant-Man? ‘Yun ba ‘yung sa Marvel? ‘Yung storya niyan from magnanakaw to hero?
“Good luck. Wala akong masabi,” he said during a press conference in Nueva Ecija.
Guanzon, who isn’t new to mocking Marcos Jr., had to capitalize on the story as well.
On Facebook, she noted that the main character in the movie, Scott Lang, at least has a master’s degree despite being a thief while others are only thieves.
She was obviously referring to Marcos who maintains that he is a graduate of Oxford University. The institution itself made it clear a number of times that the former senator was only awarded a special diploma and not a degree.
“Nanood ako ng antman tapos si scott lang pala ay magnanakaw na may Master’s degree in engineering yung iba magnanakaw lang,” she wrote.
Guanzon also doesn’t back down from her bashers.
Most of the critics call her ‘stupid’ but she is far from that adjective.
Guanzon served as commissioner of COMELEC from 2015 to 2022 under the Aquino and Duterte administrations. She also served as Mayor of Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, and as Commission on Audit (COA) commissioner.
