More Filipino bands, current, and old alike, joined VP Leni Robredo’s sorties in various parts of the country. Due to these bands–it has attracted thousands of of attendees.
Ben & Ben, the indie-folk OPM band who recorded the smash hits, Kathang Isip, Leaves, and Maybe the Night–is among the latest recording artists to express their support for the presidential campaign of Vice-President Leni Robredo.
The group recently performed at the #PasigLaban’s people’s rally in Pasig. They are also performed for Robredo at her Nueva Ecija rally on March 22.
Ben & Ben joined the likes of Rivermaya, Mayonnaise, The Company, and the APO Hiking Society, and frontmen of big-selling Filipino bands such as Ely Buendia of Eraserheads, Jugs Jugueta of Itchyworms, Ebe Dancel of Sugarfree, Kean Cipriano of Calla Lily, and Noel Cabangon of Buklod, in support of Robredo.
Female vocalist-led OPM bands Moonstar 88 and Imago also expressed support for Robredo. They have also been visible in some of the presidentiable’s campaign sorties.
Sharon Cuneta, wife of vice-presidentiable Kiko Pangilinan, also does not fail in showing her commitment to lead Leni-Kiko’s league of supporters by speaking in almost every campaign sortie that Robredo and Pangilinan hold. Cuneta is not alone, as fellow music icons Gary Valenciano and Ogie Alcasid also support Robredo.
Since the campaign period began in February, these bands have relentlessly expressed their support for Robredo’s presidential campaign, not just by letting their fans know through their posts on social media, but also by performing in Robredo’s grand rallies.
Perhaps what is notable about these announcements of support by various OPM bands won’t just ensure that people will show up in grand rallies but also promise more votes for Robredo in the upcoming May national polls.
Of course, many of the attendees initially come to the rallies to see their favorite bands perform, undeniably that their attendance may also mean an additional vote for the lone female-presidentiable.
