Presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos doesn’t have any plans for struggling OFWs.
During a previous town hall with Marikina locals, a woman representing OFWs wanted to know more about Marcos’ policies on providing further help to the group, especially those affected by the pandemic.
She asked what his administration would do to convince career overseas workers to work in the country instead of leaving.
Marcos didn’t seem to have an answer, and it was evident.
“Kung ninanais pa ng isang tao na mag trabaho sa abroad, dapat ginagawa noon ng OWWA ay mayroong re-training program. Kasi titignan yung labor market kung ano ba ang mabenta,” he said.
“Pero kailangan may kasamang kontrata,” he added.
Kalutangan ni Marcos aside, would love to see VP @lenirobredo in more town hall events like this na directly siyang natatanong ng mga tao. I think she would shine a lot doon and it would be good to publicise aside from the big campaign rallies https://t.co/JivGQyog9F

The dictator’s son failed to answer the question, but his supporters ignored the slip-up. However, his believers were quick to pounce on Vice President Leni Robredo when she apparently shared her stance on seafarers.
Her remarks were taken out of context and were used to make it seem she could care less about the occupation. But former senator Antonio Trillanes clarified that the vice president might be the only candidate with policies for seafarers.
“By far, she’s the only presidential candidate who had made it very clear that the seafaring industry – most especially the seafarer – would be one of her major economic pillars,” he said.
In the same town hall, Marcos was also criticized for having zero plans for solving problems associated with solo parenting.
