The Kapamilya broadcast journalist unceremoniously departed from his anchoring duties on TV Patrol following his shocking demise on Black Saturday, April 16.
The world of Philippine sports and journalism succumbed to grief on the morning of Black Saturday, April 16 when Sison’s death greeted the industry.
Sison was regarded as one of the most iconic personalities in sports broadcasting before he became a part of the longest-running Tagalog newscast, TV Patrol, late last year. Before his demise, Sison made several updates on social media about his deteriorating health condition.
He was confined at Delos Santos Medical Center until his death, which was caused by cardiac arrest.
Sison called the radio cast for the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) in the early 2000s. He also served as PBA League’s coliseum announcer from 2005 to 2012. His radio program on DZMM, Fast Break, aired from 2007 to 2020. He also hosted the sports program, Hardball, on ANC for 14 years (2006-2020). In November 2021, he took on a segment anchorship role on TV Patrol.
On twitter, his colleagues and Kapamilya netizens expressed their gratitude for his service to the industry. Condolences to his bereaved family also poured out.

PBA Insider shared how shocked he was finding out that the sports icon passed away, just days after his surgery.
“Shocked & saddened by the sudden passing of a pal, Boyet Sison. Never did I imagine that the surgery he had 2 days ago would lead to his demise. He brought happiness to everyone he crossed paths with. U will definitely be missed & ur spirit will live on forever.RIP, papa B,” he said in his tweet.
