Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr, the son of the ousted dictator and late president Ferdinand Marcos Sr. was talking about ‘unity’ when he delivered his speech to the people of Cebu, on Monday, April 18.
However, it seemed his audience can not fully embrace it as most of them looked to be managing their own business while he was struggling to get his message come across.
According to an unofficial police estimate, at least 300,000 Filipinos flocked to Filinvest Grounds in Cebu. That figure has since been debated about, as there remains no official confirmation from the organizers yet.
Not all attendees, however, of what could be the most attended BBM-Sara rally so far were all ears for the defeated 2016 vice-presidentiable.
A netizen posted a clip that was grabbed from the facebook broadcast of the UniTeam Festival Rally in Cebu, in a tweet.
“Yung nagsspeech ka pero umay na yung mga kasama mo sa “Pagkakaisa” kaya may kanya-kanya silang ganap sa likod (When you’re talking about unity, but you’re audiences are busy minding their own business)” his tweet reads.

The said clip showed people on the stage, including TINGOG Partlist nominee, Karla Estrada, Senator Miguel Zubbiri, and Vice Mayor Sara Duterte, busy chitchatting among themselves, while Bongbong was delivering his speech at the front of the stage.
Rodel Esquivel, suspected many of the attendees are paid, an accusation that has been perennially hurled against the BBM-Sara tandem.
“Sa haba-haba ng salita wala man lang ako naintindihan…walang kwenta! Kaya dapat lang talaga bayaran ng 500 yung mga dadalo sa UniTeam rallies kasi magsasayang lang ng oras sa walang kakwenta-kwentang salita…sayang ang INCOME sa isang araw (I was unable to grasp any sense from what he was saying. A compensation therefore, is a must for those who attend UniTeam rallies, the time they wasted for such a useless speech),” he shared in his tweet.

Another twitter user, @thedamnbrown, posted which shows rally attendees leaving the venue while Bongbong was already delivering his “unity” speech.”Heto yung audience” he said in his caption.

The said clip showed clusters of the audiences far from the stage, leaving the rally premises as Bongbong delivered his talk.
‘Si BBM na ‘yung nagi-speech pero tingnan nyo ‘yung mga ‘tao…saan punta n’yo? (BBM was already speaking but look at the people…where are you guys going?” said a voice on the clip.
Several netizens pointed out how the former senator is not an effective public speaker.JC Bautista noted such an observation in his tweet.
“Even his UniThieves onstage is not paying attention to him (even had to check if someone greenscreened them to the background.) How much more his audience? And SWOH is worse than him? Oh my gulay!”

According to the unofficial police estimate, some 300,000 Cebuanos attended the One Cebu-hosted rally. It can be recalled that the party and its chair, Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, officially endorsed the BBM-Sara tandem. Garcia endorsed the Duterte-Cayetano tandem in the 2016 national elections but, like Bongbong, they also lost to Robredo.
