Pastor Apollo Quiboloy wants UP to close over hostile reaction to national elections results

Apollo Quiboloy isn’t ashamed to say that he is in favor of having the University of the Philippines closed for good.

His stance came after UP gave an unfavorable reaction to the results of the national elections in which Bongbong Marcos came out as the clear winner in the presidential race.

“Dalawa ang solusyon ko riyan. Number one isarado ‘yan, gumawa ng isang bagong university nai-vett lahat ang mga teachers at saka students. Pangalawa, alisin ang government subsidy diyan sa U.P. gawin nalang secular university ‘yan na ang mag-aaral sila ang magbabayad ng tuition nila,” he said in a statement.

And mainly because of Marcos’ apparent win, the UP Office of Student Regents announced that students would walk out of their classes should the dictator’s son solidify his success.

Quiboloy wants the UP to go private and have its reputation removed as the home for scholars.

“Dapat merong batas na mananagot ang lahat ng mga kinatawang opisyal diyan in case merong mga kabulastugang against the law and against the Philippine Constitution and against the government policy. Dapat managot sila kasi subsidized ng gobyerno. Pagkatapos wala silang pananagutan, wala silang pananagutan sa taong bayan. Ano nalang ang kanilang ginagawa doon parang independent nation sila doon. Kung mag-independent sila dapat wala nang subsidy ang gobyerno maging katulad nalang sila ng private school hindi na siya estate university. Kailangan private school nalang siya para magbayad ng tuition ang mga batang ito at ang kanilang mga magulang,” he added.

The pastor also wants to know why teachers allowed students to go against the government.

“Tulad nito mga teachers tawagin niyan doon papanagutin ng gobyerno because they are being subsidized by the government,” he said.

Students from UP and other universities protested in front of the PICC in Pasay City. The kakampinks were shocked to see that Vice President Leni Robredo and Sen. Kiko Pangilinan lost by a landslide.

Marcos’ camp already gave out a mock list of possible Cabinet members who will serve in the next administration.
