Retired COMELEC commissioner Rowena Guanzon is also wondering about the national identification card (ID) is taking too long in its release.
Guanzon called out on the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) on June 7 after Ethics PH founder Dominic Ligot asked if anyone who applied for the government-issued card had already received theirs.
I applied for a national ID today .one of my mga anak told me it's been a year and her ID has not arrived. Calling the @PSAgovph and Phil Post. https://t.co/nWlH6c0b2g

Responsible for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) implementation is PSA . The national ID is also known as the PhilSys ID. Guanzon’s tweet now has over 3,000 likes.
Netizens who relate shared their experience in attaining the said ID. One said it took them 10 months, while others had to wait longer.
IT TOOK ME 10 months!
So apparently, 1 PSA staff told me that an officer in BSP (incharged of the printing).Embezzled enormous funds from the budget in printing. Tinipid nila yung printing w/c resulted in pile of printing loads. Then idk kung may case ba.BSP po ang may kalokohan— SONE 4 Ph – SNSD 15th Anniversary (@sone4ph) June 7, 2022

Many think they have been scammed by the PSA after applying for the ID as they’ve yet to see progress.

The national ID system seeks to create a single identification card for Filipinos.
It will serve as a valid proof of identity in simplifying public and private transactions, enrollment in schools, and opening bank accounts.
An individual will receive the physical ID six months after registration.
Last April, “National ID” trended on Twitter because of the delay. The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, responsible for printing the national ID cards, encouraged netizens to tweet more about the delay to help prevent red tape in the government.
