Arjo Atayde officially took his oath a Congressman-elect of Quezon City’s District 1 (QCD1) in the formal inauguration of the congressmen and city councilors of Quezon City, held at Eraño G. Manalo Hall of EVM Convention Center Central in Diliman, Quezon City.
With all the elected congressmen and councilors of QCD1 along with Mayor Joy Belmonte and Vice Mayor Gian Sotto, the inauguration is presided by The Honorable Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo.
Present with Atayde are close family members including his father Art Atayde and sister actress Ria Atayde who also functioned as the Bible bearer of the event
Atayde won in the congressional race in QCD1 by a landslide with 112,457 votes which comprises 66.84% of the total votes in the district.
Atayde has currently filed six bills for the 19th Congress which include House Bill No. 457 – an act declaring Quezon City as the “Film and Television Arts” capital of the Philippines; House Bill No. 458 – an act upgrading and converting the Quezon City General Hospital into a medical center, to be known as Quezon City General Hospital and Medical center, appropriating funds thereof and other purposes; House Bill No. 459 – an act providing for occupational safety and health standards for the workers and talents in the movie and television industry; House Bill No. 460 – an act prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity or expression (SOGIE) providing penalties thereof, and for other purposes; House Bill No. 461 – an providing for the magna carta of barangay health workers; and House Bill No. 462 – an act establishing the Philippine Virology Science and Technology Institute and appropriating funds thereof.
