Everyone, be careful. A simple selfie do not just mean fun, it may be the other way around. Just like this guy, whose selfie meant death by an Amtrak train in the tracks.
On a report by the Oregon Live, an unnamed victim walked out in the middle of the two sets of railroad tracks on Saturday morning in Kalama, Washington. The unnamed guy and his female friend planned to take some selfies and smoke cigarettes by the view of Kalama River during their trip from Tacoma, Washingon to Portland Oregon.
Consequently, as they attempted to snap the shot with the dashing 10:28 morning northbound train in the background, the man gets hit and killed on spot by the opposite rushing southbound train on the other track. His female friend, however, escaped death by a hair’s breadth.
According to the report, Cowlitz County Chief Criminal Deputy Charlie Rosenzweig said that both of the victims were not aware of the passing southbound train scheduled during that specific time.
On a separate report, a BNSF spokesman stated that the victims could be considered trespassing.
As a result of the horrible accident, the regular Amtrak service was delayed for several hours.
For us, as we contemplate that the unharmed victim is grieving, perhaps it is now in our hands to take social media a little less seriously.
