Accused of throwing water bottles in the direction of Rain or Shine player Beau Belga, several Barangay Ginebra fans were escorted out of the Cuneta Astrodome by security personnel on Sunday, March 15.
Eugen Salom and John Paul Diol, two of the fans ejected out of the game, denied the allegations against them.
Speaking to a reporter of Spin.ph, Salom insisted it was impossible for him to do such act since he was with his six-year-old child during the game. Moreover, he stressed that he wasn’t holding a mineral water bottle.
“Hindi naman kami bumabato eh. siguro yung nasa taas, Wala akong hawak na mineral (water bottle) tsaka hindi kami bumibili ng mineral. Paano ako babato eh kasama ko anak ko.”
We weren’t throwing anything. Probably those people at the upper portion. I wasn’t holding a mineral water bottle and we don’t buy mineral. I was with my child so how will I be able to throw?
Diola, the other accused fan, said the experience was very humiliating for them since their faces were shown on national TV.
In the controversial game between Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and Rain or Shine, the crowd flared up after a fight between Rain or Shine’s Beau Belga and Ginebra’s Mark Caguioa broke out during the fourth quarter of the game.
With the Kings on the lead at 77-71, Belga plopped right on top of Caguioa underneath the Rain or Shine basket. No foul was called until the two tried to separate from each other in an aggressive manner.

While Salom denied throwing water bottles, he admitted that he was pissed off by Belga’s “rough play”.
“Dirty fight kasi yung ginagawa ni Belga eh. Tapos yung referee, walang tawag. Ano ‘yun, no blood, no foul? he added.
What Belga is doing is a dirty fight. Meanwhile, the referee is not making any calls. What’s that, no blood, no foul?
Meanwhile, Belga told Interaksyon: “OK lang sa akin yung villain. Basta nanalo yung team ko wala kaming problema.”
It’s ok for me to be the villain of the game. As long as my team wins, I don’t have any problem with that.
