Among the nine grand finalists, the Philippines was the only country represented by four acts. Aside from Penumbra and Flores, other finalists were young singer Gwyneth Dorado and hip-hop dance group Junior New System.
Other contestants were from China, Mongolia, Japan, Thailand, and Singapore.
After the announcement that Flores did not make the top two, award-winning musician David Foster came up on stage and spoke with her.
Flores did not mention what Foster told her but cited it was ‘enough’ to lighten her ‘disappointment’ of not winning the title, “definitely, some big words of encouragement.”
She is looking forward to finishing her music course at the University of the Philippines and is staying optimistic that Foster will make good on his promise to bring her to a global audience.
When asking if she sees herself doing some collaboration with the producer, she said, “Ini-imagine ko po pero hindi ko pa siya nakikita fully! Sana talagang mangyari po talaga… Hopefully tuparin po ni Sir David Foster ‘yung pangako niya sa akin!
“Basta lagi kong niri-remind ang sarili ko na laging kasama ang Panginoon, laging feet on the ground, always humble, kahit ano pong mangyari,” she added.
