Genius mathematician John Forbes Nash, Jr. whose life was chronicled in the movie A Beautiful Mind, passed away last May 23, 2015 in a car crash on the New Jersey Turnpike.
The New York Daily News reports Nash and his wife were both killed when their cab driver lost control and crashed into a guardrail.
Nash won the 1994 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences and most recently, the Abel Prize (awarded by the Norwegian Academy of Sciences and Letters) for his work on nonlinear partial differential equations, which was awarded to Nash last May 19, 2015. (Source)
Nash, who was 86 when he passed away, became popular when his life was featured in the Academy Award winning movie A Beautiful Mind starring Russell Crowe. The movie, which was released in 2001, depicted his life as a genius mathematician while he struggled with schizophrenia, a mental disorder wherein the sufferer fails to distinguish reality.
On May 24, 2015, Crowe posted a tweet sending out his condolences to John Nash and Nash’s wife Alicia’s family.
