A 4-year-old boy from Lanao del Norte tragically died after the brother of his stepmother poured boiling water on him.
According to a report by ABS-CBN News, the victim identified a Lance Gabriel sustained severe burns and bruises after Pablito Manigos, Jr., brother of the boy’s stepmother Beth Manigos-Andoy, poured boiling water on the child. Both Pablito and Beth are currently detained at the Provincial Jail in Tubod, Lanao del Norte.
Speaking to ABS-CBN News, Pablito Jr. confessed that he did the horrible act after Lance refused to follow his order not to run.
Beth revealed that she did not bring Lance to the hospital to get medical treatment and only applied ointment on the boy’s injuries, instead. Moreover, Beth said she attempted to hide what her brother did.
Insp. Dennis Tano of Tubod Philippine National Police said: “Yung burn is almost 2 weeks na. So hindi na niya siguro nakayanan kaya namatay.”
(The burn is almost 2 weeks already. He probably can’t endure it so he died.)
The boy’s father, Julius Andoy, who was working in Manila when the crime happened, filed homicide and slight physical injuries charges against the Manigos siblings.
Andoy, who was not immediately informed about what happened to Lance, was shocked to receive a call from Beth informing him that his son was already dead.
Meanwhile, the seven-year-old brother of the victim, who also abused by the Manigos siblings, was traumatized by the unfortunate incident.
