Alleged “budol-budol” lola extorts money from sympathetic victims

With social media becoming an avenue to warn people against criminals, another concerned netizen posted on his Facebook account about an incident of a possible “budol budol” scheme. The said post has been shared more than 19,000 times and has 86 comments as of this writing.

Jonjon Cortez told of an old woman pretending to be someone his mother knows. In an attempt to get inside his house, the ‘lola’ insisted that it was his mother who informed her that he had moved to Tramo. She tried to convince him by mentioning names, but Cortez, having a gut feel that she was a scammer, refused to believe her. Cortez took a picture of her, which made the old woman backpedal and say that she might have just mistaken him from for someone she knew. Her sudden change of mind might be subtle proof that she was just trying to get inside Cortez’s house.

Here is the FB post of Jonjon Cortez that serves as a warning to others:

Cortez added that she knocked on every door in their area saying the same thing. Comments on the post seemed to reaffirm that the old lady was a scammer and they warned the public not to trust the old lady because she is a certified budol-budol..
