A heartwarming post by netizen Cindy Ocampo about the story of Perlita M. Istures, 78, is being shared online with the intention to help the sickly old lady.
Ocampo was in Wendy’s Hamburgers at Robinson’s Malate yesterday when she noticed Nanay Perlita sitting quietly at one of the tables. The old lady was alone, and seemed to be waiting for something. What pinched her heart was the fact that she was frail and ailing, so Ocampo bought her food and started talking to her. Ocampo learned that she was there to wait for her radiation therapy scheduled at 8 p.m. at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH). Nanay Perlita has Stage 1 Bone Cancer. She doesn’t have kids, only a 15-year-old niece. She traveled from Angat, Bulacan to Manila to receive free treatment from a old classmate’s oncologist son.
Right there and then, Ocampo knew she wanted to do something to help Nanay Perlita. She handed out a small amount of money for her to use. She decided to post her story on social media to reach out to kind and compassionate people and eventually get more assistance. And as good deed begets another good deed, another kind soul symphatized with Nanay Perlita and sent a bucket of chicken to her table.
