Pubu Drolma, a Tibetan local, has been able to create fragrances from wild roses grown at high altitudes.
The fragrances have already earned 20 million yuan for Drolma and her husband, who started to create them in 2014 from the rose acreage that they started to grow in 2010. They have now produced six aromas from these wild roses, which are now becoming internationally popular.
According to CNTV, “It’s a poetic image, but it’s also the stuff of high-altitude commerce. Among the wonders of the Tibetan plateau is a flower whose Fragrance means Fortune for one enterprising local. ”
So, what’s special about the fragrances? The key ingredient are wild rose buds that only grow at an elevation which exceeds 4,000 meters. Harvesting these floral buds are also critical, as they need to be collected after dawn to yield the best scents.
Aside from the wild roses’ resistance to cold and altitude, they also have a long blooming period that lasts until winter.
In 2014, the government extended their support to the businesswoman to expand her business.
As of this writing, Drolma is now preparing to create a trilingual website to make her products available around the globe.
