Netizen Dale Dickerson A. Catanghal thought he was in trouble when he found himself and his pregnant wife caught in traffic in Las Piñas City. His wife had suddenly shown signs of going into labor and Catanghal was worried about how he could bring his wife to the hospital knowing that the traffic in the city was really bad from 3 pm onwards.
Luckily, though, he was able to speak to one of the traffic enforcers on duty and the enforcer radioed all his colleagues on duty as well to clear a path for him along Alabang-Zapote road. Even better, the enforcer told Catanghal to simply turn on his hazard lights and counterflow. He was assured the enforcer would stay by his side to help move traffic.
Because of the urgency of his wife’s delivery, Catanghal was unable to get the traffic enforcer’s name or take a proper photo to commend him. Nonetheless, he posted his thanks on social media, not just to that particular enforcer, but to all those who were on duty on the afternoon of October 17 along Alabang-Zapote Road in Las Piñas.
To cap off the day’s blessing, Catanghal reported his wife and his newborn are safe and sound.
Many would say that this should not be anything out of the ordinary because traffic enforcers are tasked to serve the public. In this day and age, however, it is not very easy to find public servants who are will to go the extra mile to help a citizen in need. It is no wonder, therefore, that Catanghal was very grateful to this traffic enforcer and shared the story on Facebook. Hopefully, there are more “silent heroes” like this enforcer out there who are always ready to assist and serve those in need.
