David Mercado apparently racked up some good karma when he returned a lost wallet some so he received a similar favor from a balut (fertilized duck egg) vendor.
On December 26, 2015, Mercado posted a photo on Instagram, showing him with a wallet together with a balut vendor. He said in his post:
“I definitely believe in #GOOD #KHARMA!
“A few months ago, I found a wallet in a tricycle I rode going home. I gave time and effort to locate the owner, because it was the right thing to do. I remember seeing her face in all relief as she rushed towards me and hugged me when we met.
“5 days ago, I lost my wallet. I was very emotional because not only is the item very valuable, the contents (cards and IDs) are a headache to replace!
“Just tonight, our neighbor (my cousin) came knocking at our door. She came to inform me that a balut vendor was looking for me. To my surprise, manong found my wallet – complete with all its contents! He told me that his friends tried to convince him not to return the wallet anymore, because it would entail too much effort and time to locate the owner. But he insisted that he had to return it because it is the right thing to do.
“I’m certainly glad he did! My faith in humanity is indeed restored! Good people do exist, but to find one, you have to BE ONE too!
