Writer behind ‘Kath and Vince’ love story revealed

Since the one-of-a-kind love story was published on the Facebook page Life and Social Media, thousands of netizens have become engrossed with this online saga. Kath and Vince’s love story instantly became a social media sensation and went viral on various social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

While this love story has certainly won the hearts of people from different walks of life, the author behind the popular romantic tale is probably far different from what you might imagine.

Jenny Ruth Almocera, also known as Queen Elly, is the woman behind the viral love story of Vince, a college basketball player, and Kath, the campus beauty queen. Almocera, a 21-year-old full-time mom, never thought that the story she wrote through the mobile app Yassy would go viral.

In her interview with ABS-CBN, Almocera revealed her inspiration for the love story. “Galing ‘yong story sa mga random people na nakilala ko sa buhay ko. Simula noong college ako, sa mga kaibigan, sa mga umiyak sa akin, sa mga kilig moments nila. Lahat ng mga kwentong napakilig at napaiyak ako, ‘yon ang naging inspiration ko.”

(The story was inspired by random people I had met in my life. The experiences I had in college, my friends, the ones who cried to me, their romantic moments as well as the stories that thrilled me and made me cry inspired me.)

Almocera revealed that her 36-year-old husband inspired Vince’s character in the story. According to Almocera, every sweet deed that Vince did in the story was also done by her husband.

The young writer has received offers from various small film production houses to transform the story into a movie. Almocera herself will portray the character of Kath. She is currently looking for men to play the role of Vince and Jake.

Planning to pursue a career in writing, Almocera is set a to create a story centered on the value of family.
