MANILA, Philippines. FM radio station Magic 89.9 has issued an apology to artist Ralph Cifra after using one of his works without seeking his permission.
On its Facebook page, Magic 89.9 wrote on Tuesday, March 1: “We would like to direct this apology to the artist behind Art of Ralph Cifra whose work we have used inadvertently without permission. In the past, We’ve tried to be very careful about our content. Rest assured that we will be even more careful moving forward. Again, we apologize to Mr. Cifra, whom we have also contacted individually.”
Through a lengthy Facebook post, Cifra accused the radio station of using his original artwork titled “Retro Technology” in Magic 89.9’s 30th anniversary party invitation which was posted on its Facebook and Instagram pages.
“If you were able to find Retro Tech on the net easily, then I guess sending me a message through email or any of my social media pages to ask for permission shouldn’t be that difficult. If you did, I would’ve gladly lent you my design for free,” Cifra wrote.
