VIRAL: Police officer caught slapping a motorist on video

MANILA, Philippines. A video showing a police officer in “beast mode” physically hurting a motorist at Luneta park has gone viral.

Netizen Hayley Catacutan posted a 40-second road rage video on her Facebook account on Monday, March 14. The video, which has also been shared on the Facebook page of Top Gear Philippines, has amassed almost 1 million views and over 18,000 shares as of press time.

Based on Catacutan’s account, they were on their way home when they saw the unidentified policeman slap the motorist twice. The video also showed that the policeman and the motorist continued their discourse after parking their vehicles at the side of the road. Unfortunately, the video was cut short since the vehicle Catacutan was riding in had to continue on its way.

Catacutan also identified the plate number of the police officer’s vehicle as UEQ 399.

Although it was not determined what caused the police officer’s rage, a certain Angeline Reyes Ng claimed that her brother accidentally hit the vehicle the police officer was driving through a lengthy comment on Top Gear Philippines’ post. During the confrontation, Ng’s brother was talking to her on the phone. According to Ng, she overheard the police screaming in anger.

Sir taos puso po ako humihingi ng paumanhin, hindi ko po sinasadya madaplisan salamin nio, pasensiya na po kayo,” Ng’s brother reportedly told the officer.

(Sir, I am wholeheartedly asking for forgiveness. I did not intend to hit the mirror of your vehicle. I’m sorry.)

Despite this, Ng overheard the police officer cursing. This prompted Ng to instruct her brother to get the police officer’s name.

The police allegedly said: “Bat ko ibibigay?

(Why should I give it?)

At this point, their conversation was suddenly cut short because call was dropped.

To their surprise, the video of the incident quickly went viral in a matter of hours.
