After his failed first proposal attempt, the 34-year-old Dale Sharpe planned out what seemed to be the most majestic marriage proposal ever.
It took him 7 years before bending one knee in front of her 29-year-old partner, Karlie Russell.
Under The Northern Lights
He confessed that his first attempt was a complete epic fail. He got slashed off $4,000 dollars after Russell threw away the hand moisturizer where Sharpe originally put in the ring. Dale shrugged it off and saved up to buy a new ring for their two-month visit in the Arctic Circle.
His original plan was to pop out the question on their seventh anniversary, but the breathtaking Northern Lights changed his mind.
In a statement, he said, “It was the most amazing display of colour in the Aurora that we’ve ever seen. I wanted to take [a] full opportunity and make it happen at its absolute best. The moment was right, it felt good, so why not.”
Due to his expertise in photography, he was able to ensure the majestic photos of the incredible moment. As soon as the Aurora glows, he set up a head torch to make sure they would stand out against the lights. He then put his camera on a timer before pulling out the engagement ring from his bag.
The photo circulated online and it went viral right away. The couple was very happy to share their one-of-a-kind engagement to the world.
“The most ironic thing is that we’re both landscape photographers, but have zero photos hanging up on our walls of our images,” Sharpe admitted. “But this is one image that we want to keep for ourselves and hang up on the wall.”
