This viral picture breaks our hearts into pieces as Abdel Hameed al-Youssef holds his dead twins ever so gently for the last time. His babies were killed during a suspected gas attack in Idlib, Syria.
The emotionally-wrecked man can be seen hugging a baby boy and a baby girl, both wrapped in white blankets as Mirror of the UK reported. Besides his twins, Youssef also lost his wife and relatives to the attack.
His twins are among the more than 70 people who got killed, of which 20 are children. The devastating attack happened in the northern town of Khan Sheikhoun.
Russia puts the blame on the rebels for the attack, while Washington, on the other hand, said that it is believed the deaths were caused by sarin nerve gas dropped by Syrian aircraft.
Crying for help
Dr. Shajul Islam, who lives and works in northern Syria, shared the devastating images showing the aftermath of the attack.
“Do u still doubt that Sarin is being used on us? Non-reactive pinpoint pupils! We have samples. Will anyone care!? Who will stop it?” he tweeted, posting the footage of the aftermath.
In a statement, he also said, “Patients are still flooding in. This child’s been rushed in without any family. They’re probably dead.”
The physician also posted a picture of a crying baby surrounded by medical workers in a hospital, followed by a video showing people lying unconscious in beds.
He shouts for help, as he noticed that no matter how loud their voice is, they are still not heard,
“I will show you the evidence again and again, but you know what? The world doesn’t care and no-one is doing anything. We urge you to put pressure on your government — put pressure on anyone — to help us.”
