Madness had already taken over this world, but one thing is for sure, discrimination has to stop. It is a shame that we see discriminating others funny, that shaming people with how they look is okay.
It is not.
Just recently, an act of racism is clearly shown in this post that caused outrage online. A post from Tambay ni Berto Worldwide went viral immediately after an Igorot was allegedly denied access to ride a bus. The netizens waste no time to blast the driver and the bus company, which happened to be Solid North Transit Inc.
It was so unfortunate that, if the accusations were true, Filipinos are being discriminated by our fellow Filipinos.
The Igorot had no choice, but to wait for another bus and wish to get access.
Not a ride home
While everyone is saying that the man is about to go home, he was actually supposed to visit a patient in Villasis or Rosales.
The post had already more than 42,000 reactions, 5,200 comments, and was shared 133,714 times already.
According to the page, the unidentified native Igorot was rejected by the bus driver because of what he is wearing, a bahag. Even though he had money to pay for the fare, the bus staff refused to let him in.
Netizens take over
While the bus driver showed no mercy, everyone in the comment box of this post expressed empathy to the Igorot.
Some went berserk upon seeing the post,
While some took a time to wait for the bus company’s statement before judging the situation.
Meanwhile, a woman stood up to clear the issues.
She said that the driver did not reject the Igorot, but the bus at the time was jam packed and couldn’t accommodate more passengers.
The Bus Company Had This To Say
After getting grilled by the netizens, they were bombarded with queries, and they said this in a reply:
Even though the bus company has not yet released a full statement regarding this issue, it is still not right to reject a customer just because of what they are wearing.
Discrimination starts small, but it ends up big. Let’s all be cautious of what we say to others.
