Education is one of the most important things anyone can acquire in this world. Although they say a good pair of shoe can take you anywhere, education is the one that can take you farther. Sure, good values and hard work can make someone successful, but they will have better chances if they have a degree.
However, education is also one of the things that are often taken for granted by some students. As what people usually see, there are students who would rather spend time in computer shops than sit inside their classroom and study.
But not all students are the same. There are still some who strive hard just to be able to finish and be successful someday.
A good example Joel Mendiola, grade 12 student who was spotted selling sweet corn on the streets after his classes by a netizen
Mendiola’s story was shared by Facia Lois Estive on Favebook which went viral immediately after posting. A lot of netizens was inspired by the post.

“So ayun nga po ano. Wazzup sa inyo mga paa. Cheret.
So pinicturan ko siya after umalis nung mga sinerve-an nya. Tapos lumapit ako.”
According to Estive, she and her friend were eating when a young man selling corn nearby caught their attention. They approached him and asked a few questions.
“Grade 12 na raw siya. Humss tapos mag-major in psychology (psych suot nyang lanyard) Gusto niya maging social worker.
Mendiola dreams to be a social worker, and help his family as well.
“Nakaka-inspire.
P.S Sa sobrang tuwa, nalimutan kong tanungin yung pangalan niya
Pero oki na po. He is Mendiola Joel.”
Upon knowing the young man’s struggle, Estive realized that age is just a number and it should not be a hindrance in fulfilling your dreams.
Meanwhile, netizens who had read her Estive’s wished the boy well and praised him for the right attitude he had shown despite the challenges he faces everyday.
As the saying goes: “if there’s a will, there’s a way.”
