In an episode of Bawal Ang Pasaway Kay Mareng Winnie, she interviewed the Presidential Communications Operation Office Secretary Martin Andanar. The controversial government official finally speaks up regarding the issues being thrown at him.
Mocha as Assistant Secretary
In a portion of the interview, the employment of ASec Mocha Uson to the PCOO was brought up. The host Winnie Monsod asked what were his insights regarding the issue.
“Si Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson pinili po ni Presidente, handpicked by the President,” he said. “My rational also for agreeing to get Mocha is because ‘yun talaga yung merkado niya, yung kanyang social media following,” Andanar added.
According to him, he finds no reason why not to hire Mocha. The performance rate of PCOO was increased two months after they employed the former sexy actress, he shared.
He was half-hearted at first, but when the president proposed to get Mocha, he thought of it as great news. “She’s fit for the job,” he said. But he is very aware of the pros and cons in appointing the ‘blogger’.
“Malaki ang tulong ni Mocha lalo na sa masa, sa social media,” he said. “PCOO only have one million followers and she has five [million], so diretsong mas madi-dessiminate on social media,” Andanar talked about issues inside PCOO.
When asked if they have validated these followers especially with the rise of fake accounts and bots, Andanar answered yes, they did check the analytics of Mocha’s engagement.
“Truth to the engagement. Kasi yung engagement po niya sa Facebook niya ay sobrang taas. In fact, mas mataas siya even sa pinakasikat na artista, and some organizations mas mataas siya.”
He also added that Mocha is very much well-loved by the people supporting the president.
Cons
Andanar knows the recent feuds between Mocha and credible traditional media. They want to prevent it, and they are now managing it with Mocha herself. PCOO lectured Mocha that there are rules and regulations that the organization needs to follow that Mocha needs to follow by now.
Firing Mocha?
With the recent gaffe of the ‘Four Sisters and a Wedding’ star, issues arose that PCOO plans to fire her. Andanar cleared out the issue.
“It’s all political,” he said. “Because of the amount of following [Mocha] have, sabi ko maybe it’s about time for her to think about hiring your own researchers and editorial team.
There’s no official announcement yet, but they are hopeful for trying and weighing out options for both PCOO and Mocha Uson.
