- Bato slams media for negative reportage
- PNP Chief says he is still proud of his men
How often do we see PNP Chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa cry while delivering his speech? Uhmm… several times already?
Crying Bato
In Bato’s recent project, a 30-day retraining of 1,143 sacked Caloocan policemen, he brought up the issue of negativities that coincide with their job. ‘Out of proportion’ that’s how the Philippine National Police Director-General described the headlines of media. This is also the reason why he carefully warned the Caloocan cops to follow the rule of law.
“Observe natin dahil konting pagkamali natin palalakihin ‘yan ng media. Sigurado ‘yan,” he said.
Bato also highlighted the ‘under-reporting’ of media on police casualties during law enforcement operations. “‘Yung kasamahan natin si PO1… nasa ospital pa ngayon, ‘yung nasaksak doon sa Caloocan na-magnify ba ‘yun ng media? Hindi ‘yun na-magnify. Bakit? Hindi magandang balita ‘yun,” he said slamming the media.
“Nilulunok ko yung pride ko every time magkakamali tayo,” Bato added.
True enough, breaking down in tears is not a problem to him, having bursting at a Senate hearing twice.
On Caloocan Police training
Despite all the negative reportage, Bato remain proud of his men. “Masasabi ko pa rin, sa harapan nitong mga media nandito ngayon, I am still very proud of my men, of what we have done to Caloocan kahit na sabihin ninyo… na yung mga tao ko ay tarantado,” he said.
He also said that the Caloocan Police’s training is to make them “Maka-Diyos, mas makabansa at mas makatao,” PNP Chief added.
The said training will take place at the NCR-Police Office Headquarters at Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City.
