Netizens wonder where Pasig City mayor Vico Sotto was on the 37th Edsa revolution anniversary

His fans and critics swarmed that tweet because he appeared silent during the 37th Edsa revolution anniversary.

Netizens wondered where Pasig City mayor Vico Sotto was during the 37th Edsa revolution anniversary on Feb 25.

Sotto is known to be a Marcos dissenter. This is proven by his previous tweets suggesting he doesn’t believe the late dictator is a national hero.

In November 2016, Sotto tweeted about Marcos not being a hero since he was a dictator.

His fans and critics swarmed that tweet because he appeared silent during the 37th Edsa revolution anniversary.

To his supporters, Sotto was more courageous seven years ago than he is today.

Sotto supporters miss the “old him” since he isn’t as vocal against the Marcos family now that a Marcos sits on the throne.

Meanwhile, Pasig Councilor Kiko Rustia supported Sotto amid criticisms that he did not commemorate the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution anniversary on February 25.

Rustia defended Sotto by sharing Councilor Quin Cruz’s tweet, which showed that Sotto participated in the memorial mass for the Ninoy Aquino Pilot Community (NAPICO) anniversary and the People Power Revolution.

Rustia pointed out that NAPICO was likely the closest location where Sotto could celebrate the EDSA anniversary within his area of responsibility.

“No fanfare. No media. Just a solemn celebration with the community founded by the ideals and principles of EDSA,” he added.

Rustia expressed disappointment towards those who criticized Sotto for not being more present during the EDSA anniversary events.

He suggested they should have verified Sotto’s whereabouts before making such claims. Sotto’s detractors had questioned his apparent lack of acknowledgment of the significance of the event, primarily since this year’s celebration was held under the presidency of the Marcoses.

However, Rustia criticized opposition members for hastily canceling their allies because they did not meet their standards.
