Despite receiving negative feedback and a low rating of 1, motivational speaker and social media personality Rendon Labador refuses to give up and remains motivated in running his newly established sports bar/restaurant.
One of the criticisms from netizens was the high price of his rice, which cost 100 pesos, which they felt was unjustified and overpriced. Labador defended this by calling it “motivational rice” and a symbol of not giving up.
Many content creators, including Jack Logan, have criticized him for this, especially since he was previously involved in an issue with Coco Martin related to the disturbance caused to Quiapo vendors while filming their action-drama series, FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.
Socialite “Bryanboy” also weighed in on the issue by showcasing the “Gucci rice” they use at home, which costs 20,000 euros.
Labador will continue running his business despite the low ratings on Facebook.
“The Number 1 Sports Bar/ Restaurant in the Philippines got the lowest RATINGS!!! Wala bang feature ang Facebook na required ka munang pumunta o kumain bago ka makapag-rate?” he said.
“Do you think that Episode Bar + Kitchen deserves a second chance? Motivated kami at hindi susuko! Ang kinabukasan ng bawat Pilipino ay nakasalalay sa #MotivationalRice ito ang ating ‘National Rice,’” he added.
He also thanked netizens for bringing attention to his business.
Some have said that Labador’s marketing tactics are effective.
