Netizen goes viral after calling out body shamer during bus ride

At first, she ignored the “madam’s” comments because she thought she was with the other three students who also rode the bus.

A netizen named Gelot Ambolode was infuriated by a female passenger whom she rode with on a public bus heading towards San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan.

Ambolode didn’t like the “insensitive remarks” made by the body shamer towards some students who boarded the bus around North Fairview in Quezon City.

At first, she ignored the “madam’s” comments because she thought she was with the other three students who also rode the bus.

“May sumakay sa North Fairview na tatlong Nursing students. At kasabay nila itong si Madam na mukha naman edukada pero pasmado ang bibig Haha. So umupo sa pinakadulo yung tatlong students at tumabi itong si madam.”

“Madam: Ang papayat n’yo naman Miss halos di na ako magkasya. Di ko pinansin noong una kasi akala ko kasama nila na nagjo-joke lang,” she wrote on Facebook.

She also didn’t pay attention when she heard that the students were paying for her fare because she couldn’t fit properly in her seat.

However, when the conductor approached to collect the fare, the woman insisted again that she should be given a discount because she couldn’t sit comfortably.

She claimed that the weight of the three students almost occupied the entire seat and that they were complaining.

The concerned netizen’s ears almost bled as she insists, feeling sorry for the students.

Ambolode exclaimed, “MADAM DITO NA HO KAYO UMUPO SA UPUAN KO PALIT TAYO PARA MANAHIMIK KA LANG. SA SUSUNOD MAG-TAXI HO KAYO PARA DI KA NASISIKIPAN AT NAIINITAN.”

According to the post, the woman even argued that she was commuting because her driver was not around.

Ambolode continued, “MINSAN TALAGA MAY MGA MATANDANG WALANG PINAGKATANDAAN. SANA WAG MARANASAN NG ANAK O APO MO ‘YANG PAMAMAHIYA NA GINAGAWA MO. HINDI MO ALAM KUNG ANO MEDICAL CONDITIONS NG MGA BATANG YAN PARA HUSGAHAN AT IPAHIYA MO NG GANYAN. “

MAY MGA TAONG MAY MEDICAL CONDITIONS KAYA HIRAP MAGPAPAYAT OR HINDI PUMAPAYAT. I DID THAT DAHIL PAANO KUNG FAMILY OR FRIENDS KO MAKARANAS N’YAN,” she added.

In Ambolode’s interview with Balita, she reportedly wanted to share her Facebook post and end body shaming.

Ambolode concluded, “I would be glad to allow you to repost my recent post as my goal is to stop the stigma of body shaming at bullying. Thank you.”
