Conjoined twins share one vagina; one is in a relationship while the other is asexual

Carmen shared that she has a boyfriend named Daniel; while her sister Lupita is asexual.

Lupita and Carmen Andrade, conjoined twins from Mexico, spoke to Today.com about their dating lives and debunked common misunderstandings about dating while attached physically.

“It’s not all rainbows and sunshine. We’ve had a lot of challenges, but we have a great life,” Carmen said.

According to a report from the New York Post, the twins, who were raised in Connecticut, share several body parts, including a pelvis, reproductive system, liver, and bloodstream, while each has only one leg.

Carmen, who has control over the right leg, stated that despite their physical condition, they participated in various everyday activities such as going to the cinema, attending concerts, traveling by plane, and even dating.

Carmen shared that she has a boyfriend named Daniel; while her sister Lupita is asexual.

The sisters have not attempted separation surgery as it could be life-threatening for one or both of them.

Carmen mentioned that when she began dating, she was straightforward about her situation.

“I never tried to hide the fact that I’m a conjoined twin, which meant I got a lot of messages from guys with fetishes,” she said.

In 2020, Carmen tried dating through a dating app, and during that time, she met Daniel. He caught her interest because he did not immediately ask questions about her being a conjoined twin. Today, he is her boyfriend.

Carmen and Daniel have been in a relationship for two years, and during a recent interview with Jubilee, Carmen shared that they have not been sexually intimate.

She described their relationship as a “close friendship.”

Carmen also disclosed that they have had serious discussions about their “future” plans. They plan to live together first and then get engaged. They are not interested in having children.

“I like being a dog mum,” she said, before explaining: “Lupita and I can’t get pregnant. We have endometriosis and we’re also on a hormone blocker that prevents us from menstruating.”

Although the twins have varying opinions regarding sex and romantic relationships, Lupita has a good relationship with Carmen’s boyfriend, and frequently gets consulted when planning their dates.

“Sometimes I feel bad because I want to spend so much time with Daniel. So we try to come up with compromises. Like, [Lupita] will choose where we go out to dinner, or what activity we’re going to do,” Carmen said.

The twins are highly conscious of the impact of their actions on each other and consistently keep this in mind since they can physically feel each other’s emotions.

“I can feel when Carmen is anxious or about to cry,” Lupita said.
“It’s that same stomach drop,” she added.

Carmen then shared something that happened when they were younger.

“When we were nearly six, we had a nightmare that we were going to fall off a plane, and then we [literally] fell off our bed.”

“That only happened once, but we can feel the other person’s emotions. That happens all the time.”

In clothing, the twins have similar preferences. It makes it easy for them to dress alike.

However, to maintain individuality, they use makeup and Carmen has a septum piercing in her nose. In terms of their future careers, both sisters are interested in the veterinary field. Lupita, on the other hand, aspires to become a comedy writer.
