Kapuso comedian and TV host Super Tekla recently shared a playful anecdote during an episode of ‘The Boobay and Tekla Show,’ revealing a humorous prank he pulled on a taxi driver.
Appearing on the segment ‘What Da Fact’ with guests Rita Daniela, Jessica Villarubin, and Thea Astley, Tekla and Boobay read interesting facts and asked participants to guess which fact applied to each person. Those who chose not to feign that the fact was about them faced a playful slap as a penalty.
Fact No. 3 in question referred to someone who pretended to be short of money to pay a taxi fare, hailed another cab, only to discover it was the same one they had initially boarded. Tekla was the sole participant to offer a different answer, selecting Jessica.
To everyone’s amusement, the other four participants were correct, and Fact No. 3 indeed pertained to Tekla’s failure to pay a taxi fare.
Tekla defended his actions, explaining that the taxi driver had tampered with the meter, significantly inflating the fare for the journey from Parañaque to Quezon City. Normally, he paid around ₱200 for the ride, but on this occasion, the fare had already reached ₱600 while still on Quezon Avenue.
“Kaya ang ginawa ko, a, dinadayaan mo ako, ha. Dadayaan din kita,” Tekla humorously remarked.
Upon reaching a comedy bar, he pretended to fetch money for payment but then exited the taxi, intending to avoid the driver. He hailed another taxi instead. Unbeknownst to him, he had unknowingly reentered the same cab he had initially hailed. The driver returned him to the comedy bar, causing some embarrassment.
When asked if he had pulled such a stunt only once, Tekla candidly admitted, “Not once,” with a hearty laugh.
This amusing incident adds to Tekla’s repertoire of entertaining stories, including a memorable episode in 2021 when he was mistakenly accused of shoplifting in a convenience store.
