Kapuso actress Bea Alonzo has expressed her growing concerns about not having children at the age of 36.
The actress shared her thoughts on motherhood during a recent episode of the GMA Network program ‘My Mother, My Story,’ hosted by Boy Abunda.
Bea revealed that while she dreams of becoming a mother one day, the fact that she still hasn’t started a family weighs on her mind.
She hopes to be as cool and nurturing as her own mother, Mary Anne Ranollo, who played a significant role in shaping her into the person she is today.
“My mom got pregnant at 19 and had me when she was 20, so we’re also good friends. Growing up, parang wala masyadong generation gap,” Bea said, reflecting on the close bond she shares with her mother.
However, Bea admitted that the thought of not having children yet is something that worries her. “That’s what I’m afraid of since I’m 36 and haven’t had a child yet. I wonder, ‘Will I be as cool as my mom?’ If I have kids, I hope I can be as cool as she is,” Bea candidly shared.
The actress also mentioned her mother’s strict approach to parenting, which she only came to appreciate as she grew older. “Just like my mother, I would say. To be honest, she was very strict when we were growing up, and of course, back then, I didn’t understand why,” Bea explained.
When asked by Boy Abunda about how her mother has influenced her, Bea replied, “I turned out to be a strong woman because of my mom. She taught me to stand for myself and stand for the truth, always.”
Bea’s honest reflections have struck a chord with many, shedding light on the pressures of balancing personal and societal expectations. As she continues her journey, Bea remains hopeful about her future as a mother, drawing strength from the close relationship she shares with her own mom.
