Dr. Willie Ong shares emotional vision of late mother amid cancer battle

He reiterated his commitment to providing free medical consultations and not accepting donations from pharmaceutical companies or overseas trips.

Cardiologist and public health advocate Dr. Willie Ong, currently battling abdominal cancer (sarcoma), revealed a poignant vision of his late mother calling him to join her.

Despite his ongoing fight against the disease, Dr. Ong expressed acceptance of whatever outcome may arise from his condition.

In an interview with ‘Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho,’ the former vice-presidential candidate recounted a dream in which his mother, who passed away two years ago, appeared to him.

According to Dr. Ong, his mother’s message felt like a sign that his life’s work on earth might be coming to an end.

“Nagkakaroon na ako ng visions before that time. I saw my mom who died two years ago. ‘Yung mommy ko sa dream ko, kinukuha na niya ako. She called me, ‘Willie boy, come to me, come to me!’ Parang sabi ng nanay ko: ‘You’ve done your job on earth. Ginawa mo nang 60 years, e,’” Dr. Ong shared.

As he faces his medical challenges, Dr. Ong has come to terms with the possibility of not recovering, embracing his fate with peace. “Kapag sinabing walang pag-asa, e ‘di tapos. That’s it pansit,” he said.

The public health figure, who has gained a large following for offering free medical advice through his social media platforms, also clarified that he has never profited from his public service or electoral campaigns. He reiterated his commitment to providing free medical consultations and not accepting donations from pharmaceutical companies or overseas trips.

“25 years na akong walang bayad ang pasyente ni isa. Pharma company ni isa, hindi ako nalalagyan. Wala akong foreign trips abroad. Campaign for senator, 2019, how much did I spend? P500,000. Campaign with Isko (Moreno), wala akong tinanggap na pera. I could have gotten tens of million, pero hindi,” he stated.

Dr. Ong’s story continues to inspire and resonate with the public, further cementing his legacy as the “Doktor ng Bayan,” known for his humility, integrity, and unwavering commitment to public service.
