Carlos Yulo’s father to run for Manila City Council?

While no official announcement has been made regarding his candidacy, Angelica Yulo’s post has fueled speculation about Mark Andrew Yulo’s potential run for councilor.

Speculation is swirling about Mark Andrew Yulo’s possible run for a council seat in Manila’s 5th district following a social media post from his wife, Angelica Yulo.

In an Instagram post, Mrs. Yulo hinted at her husband’s political aspirations while promoting a community initiative offering free haircuts.

“THANK YOU LORD sa blessing na makapagpasaya at makatulong sa aming kapwa ‘Libreng TABAS Project ni Konsi Mark Yulo,’” Angelica wrote, referring to her husband as “Konsi,” a term commonly used for councilors.

This led netizens to speculate that Mark Andrew Yulo may be planning to enter the political arena.

The free haircut event will also feature a performance by Jojo Mendrez, popularly known as the ‘Revival King.’ The Yulo family, who lives in Malate, part of Manila’s 5th district, has been under the public eye recently, largely due to their son, Carlos Yulo, a two-time medalist at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Previously, the Yulo family was embroiled in a controversy when Carlos accused his parents of mishandling his earnings from international competitions. His parents denied the allegations and called for an apology, with Mark Andrew Yulo taking to social media to urge his son to reconcile.
