Olympic bronze medalist Eumir Marcial has refuted allegations made by his wife, Princess Jenniel Marcial, accusing him of infidelity and financial misconduct.
The allegations were made public on Princess’ Facebook post last Friday, January 10, where she recounted the struggles in their 14-year relationship.
In her post, Princess revealed that she caught Eumir with another woman, identified as “Jessa,” at an Airbnb condominium in Pasay City in October 2024. She claimed that she, along with her sister, reported the incident to the police, resulting in the temporary detention of Eumir and the alleged mistress for five days.
“Despite the disapproval of some family members, I still gave Eumir multiple chances to make amends, believing that I was fulfilling my duty as a wife,” Princess wrote.
However, she said that Eumir allegedly continued his affair and withdrew their savings to build a house in Zamboanga City for his supposed mistress. Princess noted that evidence supporting her claims has been submitted to the court.
“For legal reasons, we cannot release the evidence to the public, but they have been submitted to the court,” she stated, adding that she feared for her safety and that of her family.
Eumir addressed the accusations in an interview with 89.9 Brigada Zamboanga on January 11, categorically denying Princess’ claims.
“Hindi totoo ‘yon, dahil unang-una yung joint account namin nasa kaniya. Hawak niya ngayon,” Eumir asserted. He also dismissed allegations that he built a house for another woman, stating, “Maski nga tatay ko hindi ko mapatayuan ng bahay. Ito, gusto ko ipakita sa taumbayan yung itsura ng bahay ng idol nila, yung pagkaalam nila na very successful na. After Olympics, ‘di ko man lang nabigyan ng ayos na pamumuhay yung magulang ko. Yung tatay ko hindi ko man lang nabigyan ng maayos na sasakyan para maayos na makapunta sa ospital, makapagpa-check up.”
Eumir also defended his encounter with the woman seen in the viral video, explaining that she was a friend from Zamboanga whom he happened to meet in Makati.
The Olympic boxer expressed disappointment over his wife’s decision to publicize their private issues.
“Doon ko naramdaman na hindi na lang pagmamahal yung gusto niya sa akin. Kasi personal matter ‘to eh. Bakit pa kailangan i-media? Maayos ako nakipaghiwalay sa kaniya. Maayos ako nagsasabi sa kaniya i-settle natin ito. Kung ano yung property na mayroon ako sa Manila, hatiin namin, ayusin namin ‘to. Bakit ayaw?,” Eumir said.
Princess’ post has garnered mixed reactions online, with some netizens rallying behind her for speaking out, while others sympathize with Eumir’s call for privacy.
The case is expected to proceed in court, where the Marcials’ evidence will be presented.
