This Aeta made tribe proud as she become their first licensed Civil Engineer

  • Female Aeta from Amianan tribe just passed the 2017 Civil Engineering board exam
  • Ezel Joy Manzano became first passer of licensure exam of her tribe

Ezel Joy Manzano is the current pride and joy of the Aetas as she passed the 2017 Civil Engineering licensure exams last November 2017. The 23-year-old indigenous tribeswoman is the first in her hometown to have achieved such milestone.

“Ako po si Ezel Joy Pablo Manzano, 23 years old… proud civil engineer, November 2017 passer po,”  Manzano proudly shared on GMA News’ video on Tuesday.

It was not at all easy, as Ezel described her journey that got her to success. She went through hardships just be where she is right now.

As she recalled, “Meron pa pong mga time na umiiyak na ako kasi hindi ko na naiintindihan ‘yung inaaral ko. Ibuhos na nila lahat kasi minsan lang sila mag-board exam.”

Ezel, like most students from her tribe, suffered financial problems. She painfully recollected the memory of how she was forced to quit school because of lack of money.

Thankfully, the dream inside Ezel overcame her struggles. She fervently studied and sought help from various people to fulfill not just her goal, but also her late father’s.

Ezel remained in gratitude to every one who helped her throughout her journey. In return, she promised to share her knowledge to those kids who want to achieve what she has.

“Gusto ko din po silang makapag-aral, makamit nila ‘yung pangarap nila. Sabi ko nga po gagamitin ko ‘yung profession ko para makatulong sa iba.”
