- People’s Television Network will soon be airing Chinese language television series, documentaries, cartoons and movies that will be dubbed in Tagalog
- The Chinese programming was announced at the inauguration of the China TV Theater at the New World Hotel, Makati City
The Philippine Government’s television channel People’s Television Network or PTV will soon air Chinese TV series, documentaries, cartoons, and movies dubbed in Tagalog.
Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Zhao Jianhua announced the new programming last June 13 at the New World Hotel in Makati City.
“Reform and opening up really represented a strategic move to mobilize each and every Chinese striving for his or her personal happiness, for his or her family welfare, and for his or her national development. This is known as the Chinese Dream.”
According to Zhao, it is a step for Filipinos to better understand China; the history, the culture, the people’s lives, and dreams.
“A new window is opened to millions of people in the Philippines to better understand China, its people, their long history, their rich culture, their daily lives, their endeavor, and their dreams. I would rather name the project that we launch today as ‘DreamWorks’ made in China,”
He also shared that through the movies and series to be shown on PTV, people can be informed of China’s reform and opening up in the past 40 years and how it helped the steady economic growth of the country.
Both Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar and PTV General Manager Dino Apolonio expressed optimism on the partnership.
Apolonio expressed that “We need contents that challenge our minds and promote creativity and imagination. China Theater is contributing immensely in that regard. It serves as a tool for deeper understanding between our two peoples,”
