- Netizen posts about a stray dog at a mall at Camarines Sur
- The mall’s security guard told the story of how the dog’s former family once lived in a house located on the mall’s current location
Last June 20, Twitter user @telleomere posted about a stray dog in Gaisano Mall, Iriga City, Camarines Sur.
Based on the tweet, the guard stated that the dog keeps on coming back to the mall every afternoon as it was the land wherein the house of his former owners were built. It is thought that the dog would come back in the hopes of his known family would pick him up.
“Saw this poor dog sa Gaisano Mall Iriga City. Sabi ng guard, yung lupang kinatatayuan ng mall, ay yung lupa kung saan dating nakatira yung family na nagaalaga sa dog na to. He goes back to the mall, his home, every afternoon, naghihintay baka sakaling balikan siya. My heart.”
According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or ASPCA, approximately 6.5 million companion animals enter the shelters every year in the United States alone.
PETA states that approximately 2 to 3 million cats and dogs—many of them healthy, young, and adoptable—must be euthanized in animal shelters every year.
“Many more unwanted animals are simply abandoned to suffer and die on the streets or languish in lonely backyards without companionship, exercise, or, in many cases, even basic necessities such as food, water, shelter, or veterinary care.”
